In 1979, a group of concerned citizens gathered ideas in hopes of enhancing and expanding the quality of health care in north Baldwin County. They formed what is now the North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation.
Objectives
The Foundation:
- Promotes health care services at North Baldwin Infirmary.
- Identifies health care needs in the community and works toward meeting those needs.
- Promotes health care education in the area served by North Baldwin Infirmary and encourages the public to take an active role in determining the future of health care in their community.
- Provides a framework for community involvement in the health care of north Baldwin County.
Contributions to health care
The Foundation meets these objectives through:
- Recruitment of physicians specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, urology, and other medical fields.
- Expansion of emergency and ambulance services and outpatient medical-surgical clinics.
- Development of health education programs.
- Acquisition of medical equipment.
- Support for nursing home facilities.
