Maternity Classes
Prenatal classes are offered by the OB Department at North Baldwin Infirmary to educate expectant parents in proper care during pregnancy, to prepare for the childbirth experience and to assist in making a smooth transition into their parental roles.
Classes are all offered on campus at North Baldwin Infirmary. Attendees may choose to attend all classes or choose which ones they desire.

Healthy Pregnancy
A healthy pregnancy requires proper nutrition. The Healthy Pregnancy Class covers information on how to have a safe and healthy pregnancy. Included is information on exercise, nutrition and risk factors of pregnancy. In addition, your physician my refer you to North Baldwin Infirmary's registered dietitian for personalized nutritional counseling.

Labor and Delivery
This class starts with preparation for labor and includes what will happen when you arrive at the hospital, and the routine throughout your labor and birth. This class also cover Cesarean Sections.

Postpartum Care and Comfort Measures for Labor
Attendees will hear suggestions for making yourself more comfortable during labor. This class covers everything from breathing techniques to epidurals. Also included is information on how to care for yourself after delivery.

Newborn Care

Breastfeeding
For mothers choosing to breast feed, lactation support personnel are available for instruction and assistance. This class covers the benefits of breastfeeding, preparation, techniques and breastmilk storage. We can also refer you to a breastfeeding support group in our community.

CPR and Safety
Attendees will learn infant CPR and choking, and get up-to-date information on child safety. This class also contains information on car seats.
