Eighth Annual Women’sBest Weekend a huge success
The 8th Annual Women’sBest Weekend Conference was a huge success and enjoyed by women of all ages. The wellness weekend was held Oct. 26-28 at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach and presented by Thomas Hospital and North Baldwin Infirmary.
Keynote speaker Mercedes Ramirez Johnson, one of only four survivors of American Airlines Flight 965 that crashed in the Andes Mountains in December 1995, passionately delivered her story of perseverance and courage in “Making Sense of It All” – the theme for the conference.
The weekend included body and mind-enriching seminars covering women’s emotional health, new trends in staying healthy, wellness, prevention, humor and pampering. Area physicians discussed the new and greatest gynecologic procedures and women discovered ways to minimize their health risks.
Attendees were also able to get in touch with their senses by learning yoga and pilates or by attending a leisure activity such as reflexology and massage. Several women discovered their stylish nonsense and modeled on the runway during the Girls Night Out.
Other activities included health screenings, a fashion presentation by Chicos, a cooking demonstration by Chef Ed Douglas from Faulkner State Community College Culinary School and beauty guru Kelcie Frank from the New York City Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Beauty Team demonstrated makeup application.
The Saturday evening event featured a wine tasting at Delicatezza restaurant at SanRoc Cay.
And Sunday morning participants were inspired with a video presentation entitled “Heaven Sent Women” which highlighted local women who had overcome tragedy and adversity only to become stronger and more beautiful.
Women’sBest Weekend is always designed to give women the opportunity to relax, become more health conscious and have fun.
