Center for Pain Management and Rehabilitation at North Baldwin Infirmary opens

Leslie V. Rush, III, D.O.

Patients of all ages who experience pain problems – back pain, knee pain, sore shoulders or spinal cord injuries – can expect to receive a full spectrum of care at North Baldwin Infirmary’s recently opened Center for Pain Management and Rehabilitation.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation physician Leslie V. Rush, D.O. is the practicing physician at the center. Dr. Rush specializes in non-surgical treatments for medical conditions that produce pain. He provides diagnosis, treatment plans, rehabilitation and education for long-term preventive measures.

“My focus is on restoring function, health and quality of life,” Dr. Rush said. He explained that chronic pain and muscle weakness can make it difficult to function at home, in the workplace or during recreational activities. “I believe that by looking at the impact of an injury or chronic condition on a person’s daily lifestyle, I can develop a treatment plan with realistic goals,” he said.

“Both my training and experience have taught me to evaluate the whole person, not just the symptoms.”

Dr. Rush completed his undergraduate studies at Mississippi State. He received his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship at Baptist Health Systems, Montclair – Princeton Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Rush completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Alabama Spain Rehabilitation Center. Additionally, he is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.

The Center for Pain Management and Rehabilitation is located in the Bay Minette Medical Arts Clinic and is opened every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Dr. Rush performs procedures in the mornings and sees patients in the afternoons. To obtain new appointment information, call 580-1737.
